Expression profile of proinflammatory mediators in the placenta of mares during physiological detachment and retention of fetal membranes
2021, CytokineCitation Excerpt :CX3CL1, also called fractalkine, is expressed during early pregnancy and the menstrual phase in women. It acts not only as a chemoattractant for neutrophils, monocytes, T cells and NK cells but also as an adhesive molecule for these leukocyte subsets [34]. It has been suggested that secretion of CX3CL1 by endometrial leukocytes may support the accumulation of specific leukocytes and, hence, involvement in the breakdown of the tissue in the menstrual phase or regeneration in the proliferative phase in women [35].
