Microgels based on Infernan, a glycosaminoglycan-mimetic bacterial exopolysaccharide, as BMP-2 delivery systems
2022, Carbohydrate PolymersCitation Excerpt :To assess the bioactivity of BMP-2 released from complex microgels in either DMEM or 2 mM CaCl2, the phosphorylation of Smads 1,5,8 intracellular signaling proteins was investigated. Indeed, Smad 1 and the closely related Smads 5 and 8, specifically mediate BMP-2 responses, including the osteoblastic differentiation of precursor cell lines (Guicheux et al., 2003; Nishimura et al., 1998; Yamamoto et al., 1997). MC3T3-E1 cells were stimulated with the supernatants recovered after incubation of equilibrated complex microgels in either DMEM or 2 mM CaCl2.
Biomaterial-induced pathway modulation for bone regeneration
2022, BiomaterialsBone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2) mediates spermatogenesis in Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis by regulating kinesin motor KIFC1 expression
2020, GeneCitation Excerpt :The Smads activated by BMP2 signal differentially participate in multiple events. The Smad1 and Smad5 are the mediators of BMP2 signal transduction during osteoblast differentiation (Yamamoto et al., 1997). BMP2 signaling prefers to be mediated by Smad1 and Smad8 in chondrocytes (Valcourt et al., 2002).
