Blood-brain barrier transporters: An overview of function, dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease and strategies for treatment
2024, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta - Molecular Basis of DiseaseOrganic cation transporter 3 mediates the non-norepinephrine transporter driven uptake of meta-[211At]astato-benzylguanidine
2022, Nuclear Medicine and BiologyCitation Excerpt :Among the three subtypes of OCTs, OCT1 and 2 are expressed in the major excretory organs: OCT1 is expressed in the liver [16,17], and OCT2 is expressed in the kidney [17]. OCT3 is widely expressed in organs such as the brain, heart, liver, skeletal muscle, prostate, and adrenal gland [18]. OCT3 is thus speculated to be the major transport system of MIBG (other than NETs).
Genomic imprinting of the IGF2R/AIR locus is conserved between bovines and mice
2022, TheriogenologyCitation Excerpt :The Igf2r/Air imprited cluster is located on mouse chromosome 17 and includes three maternally expressed imprinted Igf2r, Slc22a2, Slc22a3 genes, the paternally expressed lncRNA Air [9], and the nonimprinted Slc22a1 gene (Fig. 1). Previously, the mouse Igf2r gene was proposed to be a solo paternally imprinted gene [10,11] and regulated by maternally methylated ICE (named Region2), which is located within intron 2 of the Igf2r gene [12]. ICE acts as the promoter of the paternally expressed antisense lncRNA Air.
Metformin and insulin-resistant related diseases: Emphasis on the role of microRNAs
2021, Biomedicine and PharmacotherapyCitation Excerpt :OCTs have important role in transferring compounds such as catecholamines which also affect the pharmacodynamics of some drugs such as metformin [31,32]. These transporters have three members among which OCT3 is coded by the SLC22A3 gene located on chromosome 6q26-q27 [33]. MiR-147 targets the 3'UTR of SLC22A3 mRNA.
Organic solute carrier 22 (SLC22) family: Potential for interactions with food, herbal/dietary supplements, endogenous compounds, and drugs
2018, Journal of Food and Drug AnalysisCitation Excerpt :OCT3 (SLC22A3). Initially cloned from rat placenta [46], mouse and human orthologs (as well as other species) have been identified [47,48]. OCT3 appears to have the widest tissue distribution among the SLC22 family, including liver, kidney and intestine in humans [42,46,47].
