Conformal sensor-based harmonic wave technique for in-vivo non-invasive monitoring skin water content
2022, International Journal of Heat and Mass TransferCitation Excerpt :The skin is the largest organ of the human body and responsible for some important functions such as regulating balance, secretion, and protection against diseases. When the human body incurs diseases [1–4], injuries [5,6], subcutaneous edema [7,8], and transdermal drugs and cosmetics [9,10], the water content and hydration status of human skin will change accordingly. Therefore, the accurate monitoring of the change in water content in the skin is of great significance for a series of health-related issues, such as disease prevention, wound healing treatment, assessment of the degree of edema of subcutaneous tissue, together with the development of topical medicines and skin care products [11].
Knee versus Thigh Length Graduated Compression Stockings for Prevention of Deep Venous Thrombosis: A Systematic Review
2006, European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular SurgeryCitation Excerpt :Agu et al. have summarised the multifactorial mechanism of action of GCS in preventing DVT.19 By providing external mechanical support, GCS may increase venous blood velocity,20 decrease vein diameter,21 counteracting venous hypertension,22 controlling oedema,23 restoring valve function24 and relieving symptoms.25 GCS therefore diminish one or more factors of Virchow`s triad: they decrease intimal tears, reduce stasis and decrease coagulability.
