    Schochat and Musiek [37] have discussed the importance of the central auditory nervous system maturation in the acquisition of auditory processing skills and the importance of this knowledge to the diagnosis of children with auditory processing disorders. Many studies have suggested that children with SLI have global immaturity [38] and [39], including delay in the development of perceptual and linguistic abilities [40,41], and [42]. Although neural immaturity is a plausible explanation, another hypothesis would be a deficiency in neurotransmitter release, especially acetylcholine release, during MOC activation.
