Many studies have suggested that children with SLI have global immaturity [38] and [39], including delay in the development of perceptual and linguistic abilities [40,41], and [42]. Although neural immaturity is a plausible explanation, another hypothesis would be a deficiency in neurotransmitter release, especially acetylcholine release, during MOC activation.
