Abstract

The epidemiologic method of case-control study is described and its advantages and disadvantages are discussed for use in health program evaluation. Examples of the case-control study as it has been applied in evaluation research are reviewed and a step-by-step description of the method is presented. Finally, several potential applications of the case-study approach in program evaluation are presented.
