2022, ChemosphereCitation Excerpt :It was found that the plant grown in biochar had a total protein concentration of 3.39 mg/g of fresh leaf weight whereas pesticide enhanced the production of carbohydrate which was found to be 4.37 mg/g of fresh leaf weight as shown in Fig. 10a. The total carbohydrate in the plant leaf extract was estimated using Anthrone reagent (Pons et al., 1981) and maximum concentration was found in the control setup. It was found that the plant grown in biochar had carbohydrate concentration 0.578 mg/g of fresh leaf weight whereas; pesticide enhanced the production of carbohydrate which was found to be 0.78 mg/g of fresh leaf weight as shown in Fig. 10b.

Chemical oxygen demand (COD) was used to quantify the concentration of organics in the hydrolysate.
