Anti-flagellin IgY antibodies protect against Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in both acute pneumonia and burn wound murine models in a non-type-specific mode
2021, Molecular ImmunologyCitation Excerpt :Hens were randomly divided into three groups, two birds in each group, and immunized by injecting 100 μg of recombinant protein to breast muscle on weeks 0, 2nd and 5th. Montanide ISA70VG (Seppic, Paris, France) and Cytosine-phosphate-guanosine oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG-ODN), synthesized by Microsynth (Balgach, Switzerland), were used in combination as adjuvants in all avian groups in order to induce higher and more robust antibody titers (Gordon et al., 2016; Ren et al., 2011), minimize the adverse side effects (Leenaars et al., 1995, 1998), and reduce the number of required injections (Marcq et al., 2015; Ren et al., 2011). Montanide ISA70VG was used in an adjuvant/antigen ratio of 70:30 (v/v).

2020, Microbial PathogenesisCitation Excerpt :The protein was combined with an oily adjuvant (Specol) to improve the immune response, because many recombinant proteins are usually poor as immunogens. Some authors have used Specol as an alternative to Freund's Adjuvant, since its administration causes fewer adverse effects [26,27]. Based on the results obtained by Western blot in Fig. 3b (line 1), we concluded that the mice inoculated with the F0 protein produced antibodies that recognized the proteins homonymous to CDV.
Immunisation – Choice of host, adjuvants and boosting schedules with emphasis on polyclonal antibody production
2017, MethodsCitation Excerpt :Saponin based adjuvants such as Quil A elicit the formation of immune stimulating complexes (ISCOMs). The use of ISCOMs as adjuvants for experimental polyclonal antibody production is limited by their complicated and labor-intensive preparation [11]. Mineral-based adjuvants such as aluminum salt adjuvants are known to increase responses against weak immunogens.

2013, Revista Argentina de MicrobiologiaCitation Excerpt :Typically, Specol mainly induced antibodies of the IgG1 isotype1. Previous study in mice7 concluded that Specol might be an acceptable alternative to Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA). Specol is generally regarded as safe for use in animals1,2, showing fewer adverse effects than other wateroil adjuvants like FCA and had demonstrated strong immunostimulating properties.

2010, VaccineCitation Excerpt :Food and water was provided ad libitum. Groups of ten 7-week-old mice were vaccinated via the intraperitoneal route on day 0 with saline, Gn-e protein (10 μg/mice) or VLPs (10 μg/mice) formulated in Stimune, a water-in-oil adjuvant (Prionics, Lelystad, The Netherlands) [41], in a total volume of 500 μl. Two additional groups of ten mice were either vaccinated intraperitoneally with non-adjuvanted VLPs (10 μg/mice) or were left untreated (non-vaccinated).
