2022, Hearing ResearchTranslational and interdisciplinary insights into presbyacusis: A multidimensional disease
2021, Hearing ResearchCitation Excerpt :In this battery model, the battery is connected in series with the OHCs as characterized by a variable resistance (ΔR) representing the cation (K+) channels in the stereocilia and a fixed resistance across the basolateral surface of the OHC (RHC, Fig. 4). Because the current in the strial battery is predominately K+, the return current path to the negative pole of the battery should follow that of the K+ recycling pathway (Fig. 1 this report; Schmiedt, 1996; Schulte and Steel, 1994; Schulte, 2008; Spicer and Schulte, 1996; Wangemann, 2002, 2006). There are several ways the EP can be manipulated in this model.
