Recent studies have informed and raised concerns in both the lay and medical communities about these risks, showing the high use of CT, the potentially substantial organ radiation dose from CT, and the not-unimportant associated risk of cancer [1–4]. In particular, serial studies such as renal stone CT, which are performed frequently and on younger patients, are often criticized for the associated high cumulative radiation dose [5–8].
