    The corticosterone extraction procedure was the same as described by Zenker and Bernstein [30]. This method is based on the estimation of the plasma corticosterone concentration via fluorometric assay, as described by Mattingly [31]. In glass stoppered tubes, 200 μl of plasma was extracted with 2 ml of chloroform, followed by vigorous shaking and centrifugation.
