Abstract

In this paper a theoretical model for calculation of X-ray photons characteristics under passage through capillary systems is described. The model is based on a numerical solution of a wave equation. It is shown that recently discovered interference effect under multiple reflection of X-rays is a display of wave properties of X-rays. In this report an explanation of the observed phenomenon is given.

In [8–10] the focussing of synchrotron radiation by a polycapillary lens has been studied and a fine structure in the focal spot was observed. The authors of [9–13] tried to explain this effect by wave features of X-ray propagation through the polycapillary lens. However, the inner diameters of individual capillary channels were about 600 μm, i.e. rather large, so that the observed fine structure can be also explained by geometrical effects [14].
