Predicted estimates of resting energy expenditure have limited clinical utility in patients with cirrhosis
2022, Journal of HepatologyRisk of falls in patients with cirrhosis evaluated by timed up and go test: Does muscle or brain matter more?
2022, Digestive and Liver DiseaseCitation Excerpt :The incidence of falls was similar in patients with MHE compared to those without at both CHI2 and logrank test (35%vs15%, CHI2: p = 0.1; logrank test: p = 0.26; HR 1.5 CI95% 0.4–5.7). Skeletal muscle alterations, sarcopenia and/or myosteatosis, are frequently observed in patients with cirrhosis [13] and have been related lower survival rate [12-17] and increased incidence of clinical complications [14,19,22,38]. Falls may have serious consequences in patients with cirrhosis (fractures, morbidity, complications, infections) and are more frequent in cirrhotic patients with cognitive impairment due to MHE which actually may decrease the patients attention and reaction [39-40].
