At-risk populations include female sex, age, poorer performance status, and treatment-related factors (Faithfull and Brada, 1998; Armstrong et al., 2010; Armstrong and Gilbert, 2012; Habets et al., 2014). Armstrong and Gilbert (2012) proposed a multifactorial model for the pathophysiology and provide excellent recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common etiologies.

More common symptoms were lack of strength, exhaustion and increased sleepiness; which were different from those identified by Faithfull et al.15 The most common symptoms in their study were drowsiness, clumsiness, lethargy and slow mental processes. This can be attributed to the differences in the populations studied.
