Regulation of progression through the Gl phase of the cell cycle by the rum1+ gene

Abstract

The rum1+ gene is identified as a new regulator of Gl progression in fission yeast. It influences three aspects of Gl regulation: determination of the length of Gl, dependence of S phase upon completion of mitosis, and restraint of mitosis until Gl is finished. We propose that it has a central role in regulating the Gl phase of the cell cycle.
