Abstract
Merwin and Algire1 have reported the development of plasma-cell neoplasms in strain BALB/c mice which had been implanted intraperitoneally with ‘Millipore’ diffusion chambers. We have observed plasma-cell neoplasms in the same strain of mice after intraperitoneal injection of a mixture of incomplete Freund's adjuvants and heat-killed Staphylococcus cultures2. In other experiments, reported here, we sought to determine: (1) the frequency of plasma-cell neoplasms in mice injected with the adjuvant–Staphylococcus mixture; (2) if the whole mixture was necessary.
