Screening for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: A comparative effectiveness review
2014, American Journal of Infection ControlCitation Excerpt :This study, with imprecise results, provided insufficient evidence for the effect of screening for MRSA carriage in surgical patients on MRSA surgical site infection. Three poor-quality CCS studies, all quasi-experimental, evaluated this comparison.44-46 These studies defined high risk based on the patient population (eg, transferred from another health care facility) or the ward (eg, high prevalence of MRSA transmission or infection).
Is pre-emptive strict isolation of patients at high risk of colonization with MRSA still required in low-prevalence countries?
