Abstract

Multiple sclerosis is a common neurological disease affecting young adults. Although fertility is generally not reduced in persons with MS, the diagnosis might coincide with the unfulfilled desire for a child, thus making assisted reproductive techniques (ART) necessary. Only recently it has been found that ART might trigger relapses in women with MS. Here we describe a case with successful hormonal stimulation in a woman with MS under treatment with interferon β-1b, while maintaining this treatment during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Up to now (5 months postpartum) she has not experienced any relapse.
