Is Myxomycetes (Amoebozoa) a Truly Ambiregnal Group? A Major Issue in Protist Nomenclature
2018, ProtistCitation Excerpt :1. “Hyperamoeba dachnaya” (Walker et al. 2003) Although the new species is proposed in the genus Hyperamoeba (free-living amoeboid, flagellated protist), Walker et al. (2003) clearly indicate that the organism belongs to Myxomycetes as incertae sedis.
The Species Problem in Myxomycetes Revisited
2016, ProtistCitation Excerpt :Species of Hyperamoeba traditionally had not been recognized as belonging to the Macromycetozoa because they never formed fruiting bodies and occupied habitats extraordinarily different from those of most Macomycetozoa. For example, “hyperamoebae” have been found in human feces (Zaman et al. 1999), the coelomic cavity of sea urchins as endosymbionts (Dyková et al. 2007), freshwater sediments (Walker et al. 2003), physiotherapy water baths and water treatment plants (Walochnik et al. 2004). However, the “hyperamoeba” SSU sequences clearly cluster within the dark-spored clade of myxomycetes (e.g. Fiore-Donno et al. 2010b; Walochnik et al. 2004).
First multigene analysis of Archamoebae (Amoebozoa: Conosa) robustly reveals its phylogeny and shows that Entamoebidae represents a deep lineage of the group
2016, Molecular Phylogenetics and EvolutionCitation Excerpt :However, conoseans equipped with both posterior and anterior flagella possess a more complex cone, formed not only by microtubules of MTA2, but also MTA3–MTA5 (Wright et al., 1979). In addition, the MTA1 of Macromycetozoa sensu Berney et al. (2015) and protosteloid Variosea usually form an inner cone associated with the apical part of the nucleus (e.g. Wright et al., 1979; Spiegel, 1981; Walker et al., 2001, 2003). During the evolution of Conosa, the ancestral flagellar apparatus has been transformed into many different variants.
