Abstract

Epitaxially grown n- and p-type PbSe samples are investigated by magnetooptical interband transitions in the middle infrared region for several orientations of the applied magnetic field and by cyclotron-resonance experiments in the far-infrared region. Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering experiments are performed using CO2-laser radiation in order to observe spin-flip resonances of electrons and holes. The experimental data are analyzed using a k⋅p band model according to Mitchell and Wallis. A consistent set of band parameters is obtained from a quantitative description of all observed magnetooptical transitions.
