Abstract
The lead ruthenium pyrochlores with the formula were synthesized using a solution‐phase technique. The pyrochlore oxides were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, cyclic voltammetry, and rotating ring‐disk electrode techniques. The kinetic‐mechanistic aspects of oxygen reduction and generation reactions on this pyrochlore were also investigated. Mechanisms by which these materials catalyze the oxygen reduction and generation reactions are proposed. Specific ways in which the surface structures may be involved are also proposed. © 1999 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
