2015, BloodCitation Excerpt :Waist circumference in centimeters was measured with a Gulick tape measure and divided by height to characterize waist-to-height ratio. Fat and lean mass were measured with dual x-ray absorptiometry (QDR 4500, software version 13.3:3; Hologic, Bedford, MA) in the total-body scanning mode.13-17 The scanner was calibrated weekly with known phantoms to minimize machine drift.
Vitamin D status is associated with bone mineral density and bone mineral content in preschool-aged children
2015, Journal of Clinical DensitometryCitation Excerpt :The cDXA spine phantom with known density (1.024 g/cm2) yielded a BMD CV of 0.3% (244 scans). Effective X-ray dose for all scans combined was 8.6 μSV (23). Of the 78 children, all were successfully scanned with no movement breaks in the images for LS 1–4, 71 for whole body and 59 for forearm.
Dose absorption in lumbar and femoral dual energy x-ray absorptiometry examinations using three different scan modalities: An anthropomorphic phantom study
2013, Journal of Clinical DensitometryCitation Excerpt :Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is currently the standard technique to measure bone mineral density and to diagnose osteoporosis, according to the World Health Organization guidelines (1,2).
